A judge on Monday lifted a legal stay for Miami-Dade hours before same-sex marriage was set to become legal across the state at midnight on Tuesday. Among couples who lined up Monday afternoon in Miami for marriage licenses were several who served as plaintiffs in a lawsuit that led?a judge to rule in August that Florida's 2008 ban on same-sex marriage was discriminatory.

Furlong, who witnessed a bull gator -- a large, dominant male -- utterly destroy a smaller alligator estimated to be about eight feet long. "Monster Gator!!!" Furlong posted on Facebook, explaining that after the bull gator chomped the smaller one in two, it then slammed the bottom half of the carcass against the water to rip out a piece of meat. Furlong had been photographing birds at the?Circle B Bar Reserve, a former cattle ranch turned wildlife-filled nature preserve, when he heard a splash and turned his camera to the water.

A Majority Of Florida Voters Support Legalizing Recreational Marijuana
Florida residents don't just love medical marijuana, they support legalizing the recreational use of it, too. According to a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday, a whopping?88 percent of residents support legalized marijuana for medical use, with the number in favor reaching as high as 95 percent among voters 29 and under. "Forget the stereotypes of stodgy old folks living out their golden years playing canasta and golf," Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, said in a statement.
