‘Love Me’ Artist Curtis Kulig Shoots: Miley Cyrus's Art, Anna Sui's Shag
[Editor's Note: You might not know Curtis Kulig's name, or even recognize his face, but you've definitely seen his work. The New York City-based artist rose to fame thanks to his ubiquitous Love Me campaign. His signature script has popped up all over the world, from Los Angeles to Istanbul, has led to collaborations with brands like Nike, DKNY, and Vans. In search of a fresh take on New York Fashion Week, we asked Kulig to take his camera backstage at some of the week's biggest shows, and shoot whatever strikes his fancy. Follow him all week for an intimate look behind the scenes.]
On my last day covering New York Fashion Week, I darted all over Manhattan — from Soho to Meatpacking to the tents. After a week of going backstage, the thing I realized is that you can't predict what you're going to see. Jeremy Scott was zany, but not in the ways I imagined he might be. Anna Sui had a rock and roll feel, but with glitter instead of heavy makeup. And I wasn't really expecting to see a full-blown art installation from Miley Cyrus. That's fashion week for you: at its best, it makes you think about things differently. Check out this last day, and don't miss my shots from Days 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
