‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 3: Behind the Scenes with Vicky Jeudy and Nick Barose

The inspiration? “Studio 54 disco diva,” says makeup artist Nick Barose. “Glamorous and fun but carefree.”

“For tonight’s look, Vicky was wearing a white custom-made jumpsuit by designer Charles Dieujuste. The white jumpsuit gave me a disco, Studio 54 vibe, so I wanted to do a modern disco eye with glitter,” says Barose. “Vicky told me she was into blue, so we went with metallic peacock blue.”

“Picking the right blue is hard to do, but we settled with Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Pencil in Electric Cobalt Blue,” says Barose. “You can’t do disco eyes without the lashes. Nars eyelashes are so easy to wear — Vicky said she can’t even feel them.”

“My life and beauty motto is: When you want more drama, add glitter!” says Barose. “The glitter was added last minute — she loved it!” To get the look, he lined Jeudy’s eyes using a pencil first, keeping the liner thick and winged out so it takes the place of an eye shadow. After the pencil was set, Barose went over it with Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liquid liner in Amp, followed by two coats of Sisley Phyto So Intense Mascara in Noir.

“I wanted the skin to be dewy and fresh to get that disco vibe, but in this heat it can turn greasy, so prepping is key,” says Barose. He used Biore Charcoal Deep Cleansing Pore Strips and a light lotion before applying a light coat of MAC Match Master Foundation using a damp Beauty Blender. On cheeks, Barose used Lanc?me Blush Subtil Crème in Coral Alize for a shimmery glow. For lips, he applied Dior Rouge Baume in 668 Cotillon. Jeudy’s hair is by Yessenia Reyes.??
