Now that invitations for holiday parties and dinners are starting to roll in, your mind is probably in a frenzy deciding exactly what to do with your hair and makeup. The pressure to have a look for every occasion can be a bit overwhelming. But allow us to reassure you that it’s totally not necessary.
Yahoo Beauty collaborated with Warren-Tricomi master stylist and co-founder Edward Tricomi and his team of artists to create four dramatically different winter hair and makeup looks. At first glance, these styles may appear complex, but they are pretty easy to re-create and will carry you through the holiday season into the new year. Read on for our simple, yet stunning, cold-weather beauty guide!
Bombshell curls and red lips

You know that LBD that’s been hanging in the back of your closet? Now’s the time to pull it out and pair it with this look. Vintage-inspired curls and classic red lips exude timeless elegance. And thanks to modern technology, getting this old Hollywood hairstyle no longer requires sitting for hours on end with mesh rollers.
According to Tricomi, the first step to creating this ‘do is applying a little mousse in the hair. Then add serum before blowing it out. Once completely dried, section hair into 1-inch parts and curl up onto the head with a 1/2-inch curling iron. Having the right-size heat-styling tool is the most important thing, says Tricomi. “If you use the wrong size, the curl will be too tight or too loose,” he says.
To help create more wave and texture, the pro suggests making a pin curl at the very end of each section and pinning down. Allow hair to cool for a few minutes once entire head is set with pin curls. Gently brush out the hair with a Mason Pearson brush to achieve that soft, old Hollywood glam look. Finish with a little hairspray.
“Women with short hair can definitely pull off this style,” says Tricomi. “It will just have more of a ’50s Brigitte Bardot vibe, which I love.”
For a long-lasting red lip, Warren-Tricomi makeup artist Edgar Saenz’s trick is to apply lipstick with a brush and remove any excess product with tissue. Follow this with a little bit of translucent powder to seal in the color.

Matte skin and berry lipstick

No shrinking violet here! This ensemble is for the woman who doesn’t have to try hard to stand out. If you’ve been rocking a close-cut crop or natural hairstyle this season, there’s no better way to accentuate your short strands than with a fashion-forward beanie. Just make sure to keep your locks hydrated underneath your headwear, or place a silk scarf inside the hat, to protect from the cold climes. Tricomi also recommends using his signature Argan Oil to give the hair moisture and shape.
Maintaining a skin care routine catered to your needs and concerns provides the proper foundation to a flawless complexion. For a matte makeup finish, apply liquid foundation with a BeautyBlender sponge. And to really make your eyebrows pop, fill in with pencil in a shade that matches your natural hair color. Then seal them with a clear brow gel.

Slicked-back hair and neutral makeup
Model: Kanta. Fashion credits: Dion Harness Blazer in Ivory, $1,490, Dionlee.com, Dion Lee Utility Pants, Price $875, Dionlee.com, Sarah & Sebastian Pendel Earring, $2,950, Sarahandsebastian.com, Annelise Michelson Carnivore Double Ring, $292, Annelisemichelson.com.
An oversize white pantsuit plus one dangling earring plus minimalist hair and makeup screams “boss babe.” Tricomi says the way you comb the hair control is what controls this dual-textured style (wet at the crown, dry in the back) and keeps it sleek.
Once you’ve created a center part, you’ll want to blow-dry hair as straight as possible. Adding argan oil gives it extra shine. Follow up with a straightening iron to really seal the look. Once pin-straight, spray the top with hairspray until you get the wet effect you desire. “When doing this, think about creating a halo shape around the head and comb down as you go,” says Tricomi. “Continue combing the hair downward and finish it off with a final few sprays of hairspray.”
Keep your makeup healthy and bronzy to go with your pristine all-white outfit — your face is the star. Brush on shimmer and matte shades in earthy hues across lids for an updated take on a smoky eye. Then swipe on the perfect nude lipstick for your skin tone.

Dutch braid with loose waves and copper lids
Model: Hannah. Fashion credits: Colette Malouf Mesh Wild Flower Break Clip, $128, Colettemalouf.com, Jennifer Behr Astor Bobby Pin Set, $152, Jenniferbehr.com, Zimmermann Winsome Sphere Dress, $1,600, Zimmermann.com, Wwake Large Two-Step Chain Earrings, $426, Wwake.com.
Effortless and ethereal, this braid-and-loose waves combination is a look that works no matter the season. Before creating the braid, you’ll want to use a curling iron to define the waves. “Spin the hair around the barrel of the iron in a corkscrew motion to create a perfect curl,” says Tricomi. Using your natural part at the front of the head, create a Dutch braid on one side and work your way around to the back. Repeat on the opposite side, twist the two braid ends together and secure with pins.
If your hair is on the finer side, Tricomi recommends using Shu Uemura Volume Maker Invisible Texturizing Powder to help plump up the hair for a fuller braid.
Cool copper eyelids and lips is all you really need for this makeup. Oh, and a good mascara to lengthen lashes! Ditch the brush and use your fingers to blend on eyeshadow for a dramatic touch.
