From working at a Nordstrom beauty counter to going on a world tour as Rihanna’s makeup artist, Lora Arellano‘s journey is a dream come true. While at the makeup counter, the Mexican-American beauty guru decided to really give her passion project a shot. So she teamed up with her co-worker and now Melt Cosmetics co-founder, Dana Bomar. With a passion for makeup and out-of-this world colors, they began reaching out to every manufacturer that would listen to their ideas. The duo invested all their savings into Melt Cosmetics, and in a year they created five ultra matte lipsticks — Stupid Love, Bang Bangg, By Starlight, Darling, and Belladonna — that put them on the map. With Arellano glamming up RiRi, word quickly got out about the brand, and on the launch day all their products sold out. Now Melt Cosmetics has a cult following, with over 2 million Instagram followers.
