Skip the Salon and Try These Natural Treatments From the Comfort of Home
There's no denying that sometimes your hair can seem a little damaged or dull for whatever reason — be it from swimming in a chlorinated pool in the summer or having to endure cold, dry air in the winter. When that happens, keeping your hair healthy (and maintaining it that way) can feel overwhelming and stressful, so much so that you may think your one solution is to get a revitalizing hair treatment from a salon that'll cost you. But the good news is that isn't your only option. There are so many DIY hair treatments that you can make easily and for much cheaper. And the best part about these recipes for at-home hair masks? You probably have all of the ingredients you need in your kitchen right now.
Eggs. Butter. Yogurt. Avocados. Honey. All incredibly yummy breakfast options, and all ingredients you can use to revive your hair when it desperately needs it. You can even use olive oil and vinegar. The only downside of these DIY hair treatments, however? You don't exactly want to smell like oil, vinegar, or eggs. Juan Diego Restrepo, master generalist at Salon Ziba NYC, has a solution for that. "[Add] some natural fragrance oil to keep the hair smelling good," he tells Woman's Day. "[Or] use some of the very popular Kerastase oil, like Elixir Ultime or Chronologist oil, to take any unwanted food scent away." So, grab an avocado (maybe take a bite or two out of it) and consider making an at-home hair mask the next time it needs a little extra breath of life.
