A Root-Touchup In a Pinch
If you color your hair, then you know about the hassle of constant root touch-ups. Recently, I discovered a solution that’s always inside my makeup bag—eyeshadow. It’s the perfect fix to hide my white roots when I’m on road or in between appointments. I love that shadow looks totally natural and not waxy like some color-depositing products. Note that this trick works best for white, gray, or blonde roots. Here’s how to do it yourself:
Find an eyeshadow that is the same shade as your hair color. I use a rich mahogany shadow that is dark enough to blend in.
The trick is to choose a dense formula. Shadows that are designed for lining the eye tend to be denser than standard eyeshadows. They will provide more coverage.

To apply, dip a fluffy-but-tightly-packed, damp eyeshadow brush into the shadow. Then brush the color onto your gray roots and repeat until they are covered.
Keep on all day and touch up if needed. Avoid hats, and getting caught in the rain. Shampoo out in the evening.
