He’s on a new show, Heartbreaker, but Dave Annable is anything but. The 35-year-old has been happily married to wife Astronaut Wives actress Odette Annable since 2010, and the two just gave birth to a baby girl Charlie Mae. The actor is already taking cues from his own dad on parenting. “I’ve just had such a great role model for a father in my life,” he says. “My dad worked very hard, but he always made time for my sisters and I, and never complained about going out with us when we wanted to play catch or play golf,” he recalls. “As an adult, you kind of get it; I’m pretty tired after a day of work. You never let that show.” Leading by example, is key. “I think no matter how tired you get, no matter however your day is, when you see that little smiling face, you give everything you’ve got. That’s the lesson I’ll take from my pops and trying to pass on.”

Annable is even looking forward to getting his daughter hooked on his favorite sport, golf. “There’s going to be a lot of daddy-daughter bonding time out on the course,” he says. Not only is golf a passion, but a big part of managing stress for the actor. “For me, I know that golf really makes me happy. I love being out there with my buddies and busting on each other, and having good old-fashioned interactions. That’s something that I’ve always had, and I love,” he says. Guy-bonding is a big thing for the actor who is a fan of “mancations”. “The first rule about mancation is,…..‘If we tell you, we have to kill you,’” he jokes. “We drink some Mike’s Hard Lemonade, play some horrible golf, and just laugh the whole time.” The dad-to-be admits a rowdier night was originally in the plans during his last Los Angeles excursion. “We thought we would keep it going into the night, have dinner, go out for a few drinks after. Basically, I felt like we were 65 years old after. We got home from golf, sat on the couch for a minute, and then I heard two, out of four, of us snoring.”

When it comes to beauty, the former Brothers & Sisters star hasn’t garnered any beauty advice from his spouse. “I believe my wife would like my grooming routine to last a little bit longer. I shower, I look in the mirror and I walk away.” At home, his rituals are quick, but even on TV sets, the native New Yorker admits he’s incredibly naïve when it comes to skincare and makeup. “I walk in like a big, dumb animal and they give me a hot towel. They put something called toner on. I have no idea what the hell that is,” he admits. “They take care of me and wipe the makeup off. That’s basically it for me. I don’t spend too much time thinking about my skin.”
Annable’s casual attitude parlays into his clothing style, too. “I’m a jeans and T-shirt guy,” he declares. “My wife will say it takes me a while to get out of the house. I’m asking, ‘Does this match?’ Half the time she says, ‘Oh, that looks great,’ but I think it’s coming from a real female perspective,” noting it might be a little too much for his laidback personality. “I’ve definitely showed up to a few barbecues, and my buddies are like, ‘What the hell is that?’”
