Adriana Lima Calls Her Abs ‘Unicorn Power’
Adriana Lima has some of the most famous abs in the world, and she knows it. In her latest selfie, the Victoria’s Secret veteran flaunted her toned six-pack. “Kiss my abs,” she wrote. “Unicorn power.”

Lima is as prolific an athlete as she is a model. “I really trained her like a fighter,” Lima’s trainer, former champion boxer Michael Olajide of Aerospace Gym, told Shape. “Adriana does what she has to in the gym. Her work ethic is out of control! When she gets in her mind she wants to get something done, she does it.”

Lima is all about building her body to burn fat and sculpt abs, even when she’s not at the gym. “What’s so amazing from her workouts is that she’s changed her metabolic level,” said Olajide. “Whatever she’s doing now, she’s still on that workout high from before. Think of it like recalibrating your engine. She’s burning at a higher rate normally now, so she can go back to just a basic maintenance program. More than anything, now it’s about portion control and watching what she eats, staying active, staying busy, and having her mind challenged to maintain her level of fitness.”
He added: “For her job, she had to do something very unique, because she’s out in front of millions of people all judging her or picking her apart, so she had to train for that. But now she probably does an hour a day like everybody else, and she looks amazing.”

We have to agree. Lima has walked the Victoria’s Secret runway 17 years in a row, including in 2012, just two months after giving birth to her second daughter.

Lima keeps her metabolism burning with the help of her diet, too. She kickstarts every morning with a smoothie consisting of water, half an avocado, and honey to taste. “On days when I want something heavier, I do a yogurt and milk base — to start the morning off right,” she told Vogue.

She ends her day with yet another metabolism-boosting shake. “I’ll mix [buckwheat] with hemp milk and honey, and I’ll eat it hot or cold depending on how I feel,” she told the New York Post. “Eating buckwheat before bedtime actually helps you burn calories while you sleep.” Buckwheat is also known to de-bloat and regulate digestion.
Planning her meal times also helps Lima keep her body energized throughout the day. “I’m all about portion control,” Lima told Byrdie. “I try to be better about eating small portions every few hours throughout the day, and proteins found in veggies instead of meat.”
She added: “It’s easy to eat what you like when you’re younger and then just work out a little, and it all falls off. After two kids, I have to make sure I’m balancing healthy eating habits and exercise.”

But perhaps her best tip has nothing to do with diet or exercise at all. “I can’t say that when I was younger I was totally confident,” Lima continued. “I’ve become more self-aware and understanding of my strengths on a deeper level, which helps me become more confident on the outside. So my best advice is to forget everything and everyone, and just feel good.”
