Pitch Perfect 2 director and actress Elizabeth Banks is on the cover of the June 2015 issue of Allure, and we can’t think of a better embodiment of beauty through confidence. She tells the beauty glossy, “If I had to pick a theme of the things I do, it would be: Girls win.” The issue is out on newsstands May 26th, and we’re looking forward to the “free lesson in female swagger” on page 146, especially if it comes with bouncy hair.

“Once you get offered a studio job, as a woman, it’s really hard to say no because they don’t let women do this very often,” she tells Allure. “So I knew I needed to embrace it and I couldn’t mess it up. Because if you mess it up, they don’t let you do it again, and you become representative of female directors as a whole. Like, ‘See girls can’t do it.’” Pitch Perfect 2 will be Banks’ first feature film as director, but the industry veteran, who studied theatre at Ivy League University of Pennsylvania, is well known for her talent for both dramatic and comedic acting. “I prefer doing comedy over drama. Making people laugh is a very addictive thing,” she tells Allure. “All of these people absolutely get high off of killing a room. You can get that feeling of flying in drama as well, and I’ve had it many, many times. But I find making people laugh to be a really specially ability. It’s like having a superpower.”
