Ankara Print Braids Are the Coolest New Summer Hairstyle

It seems every summer people rediscover the gorgeousness that is braids. Happily this summer is no exception, and this year’s take on the hair trend is coming with the super-beautiful addition of Ankara wax print fabric.

The trend took the Internet by storm when a talented artist from the Ivory Coast, who goes by the name Laetitia, posted some images on Instagram showcasing what’s possible with super-beautiful hair and the traditionally-African Ankara print.

Laetitia posted the first image of the style back in April, via a portrait of a young lady wearing box braids wrapped in red and yellow Ankara wax with an exuberant caption reading, “KYbraids on fleck !!! Whats KY braids ??? Its to use wax for braids! ” The photo has since garnered well over 1,000 likes and people on social media were enamored by Laetitia’s talent. “Amazing crafts queen,” one commenter wrote. Another simply said, “I’m in love with your hair.”

Since the release of Laetitia’s Ankara braids photo back in April, she has also re-created the look on Mavin Records recording artist, Di’Ja. The outcome was equally incredible and her fans were once again obsessed with the style. In the first photo that Di’Ja shared on Instagram, she’s twirling her head giving us a full view of her incredible look. She thanks Laetitia in the caption for creating “such beauty.”

In a photo shared shortly after, her Ankara braids are styled into two double buns giving the look a slightly different spin that’s super dope. She briefly explains in her caption that while Laetitia isn’t a hairdresser, she is someone who caught Di’Ja’s attention because of her creativity. We 100% understand why.
