Ask Bobbi: Date Night Beauty
Hi Bobbi,
I love the idea of getting glammed up for Valentine’s Day, but a red lip seems kind of obvious on that night. Any other ideas for cool, not cheesy, date night makeup?
Thanks!
Jessy G.
Dear Jessy,
Instead of red, go with a confident shade of pink—it’s a pretty without being over the top. If you want an alternative to a strong lip, focus on eyes instead. Make a statement with sexy winged liner or a smoky eye paired with volumizing mascara.

Dear Bobbi,
I love how people are just doing a powerful red lip and then leaving the rest of their face pretty bare. But I when I do it, it just looks unfinished and not right. What’s the secret?
Best,
Marisa B.
Dear Marisa,
Concealer is the key when it comes to going for a bare-faced look. Even when you want to keep the rest of your face simple, a bit of concealer under the eye will make a huge difference. You should also apply it around your nose to hide any redness. Lastly, you can complete the look with a little bit of color on your cheeks. A pretty color that gives you that natural flush is perfect. In a pinch, try a little bit of the same red lipstick blended on your cheeks for a soft flush.

Dear Bobbi,
We’re staying in on Valentine’s Day this year—my boyfriend is cooking for me. How do I amp up my makeup without looking too overdone for dinner in our kitchen?
Thank you!
Heather D.
Dear Heather,
When you’re at home, I think the more natural your look the better. Add a soft glow to your cheeks using a little bit of pink shimmer and define your eyes by applying mascara. Finish off your look with a sheer lip color that matches the natural color of your lips. The look is subtle but you’ll still feel pretty and put together.
