Baseball Legend Mike Piazza's 5 Must-Have Grooming Products
By Katie Chang
Besides a larger-than-life personality both on and off the field, there’s another thing former Mets catcher Mike Piazza caused a stir with, and that’s grooming. Yes, grooming. In fact, sometimes it seemed his experimentation with facial-hair styles was as closely monitored and scrutinized as his game.
There was also the time he bleached his hair, in 2001. But I digress.

Even though he retired from baseball in 2008, Piazza continues to make his mark in the world of grooming. But instead of his signature mullet and mustache, he’s now sporting an entirely different (and, in this writer’s opinion, more handsome) look with a clean-shaven face, gently bronzed skin, and slightly longer, looser hair. It should come as no surprise, then, that Philips Norelco partnered with Piazza to launch its new Philips Norelco Shaver 9000, the most advanced shaving system released by the company to date.
Since Piazza clearly knows a thing or two about keeping up appearances, we asked him to reveal what he stocks in his personal-grooming arsenal.
Philips Norelco Shaver 9000
Before getting introduced to the product, Piazza was “always a blade guy.” He quickly converted after discovering its cutting-edge features: “It gives a great wet or dry shave, there’s no pulling or grabbing, and it cleans itself. It’s just so easy to use.”
Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
Piazza firmly believes that “using good products makes a difference” and favors this face wash because “it leaves my skin feeling really clean.” The gel formula cleanses and exfoliates at the same time, rinses cleanly, and is terrific before shaving, to boot.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream
"This product, I steal from my wife,” Piazza confesses. “It’s expensive. I see her bill, and it’s $320. But when I wake up, I feel like I look younger.” Thankfully, the pricey treatment is highly concentrated, so one jar should last for months (even if you’re sharing).
Cowshed Body Lotion
When it comes to body moisturizer, Piazza echoes most men’s thinking: “I don’t like a greasy feel. I need a lotion with a certain sort of texture. It should soak in quickly and have a nice scent.” This one features a zippy fragrance—it’s the perfect foil for the dreary winter months—and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.
Redken Extreme Shampoo
If you can’t tell by now, Piazza expects his products to perform. “This shampoo does it all,” Piazza says. “My hair feels clean, but also conditioned and actually stronger.” The formula is so hydrating, in fact, you don’t need to follow up with conditioner.
