This is how to keep your hair color from fading

If you kicked off summer with a vibrant new hair color and your locks now look a bit lackluster, you can probably blame the sun.
We all know the damaging effects that UV rays have on our skin and how spending time in the sun without wearing sunblock can lead to sunburn or, worse, cancer. Well, the sun can wreak havoc on your salon dye job too. From fading to frizz, hair that is colored or even virgin needs optimal protection and care.
Rita Hazan, the celebrity colorist behind famous blondes such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Madonna, has created a product to help protect your hair and scalp from the sun.
“You spend all of this money and time getting your hair done, and you use the wrong products at home,” Hazan tells Yahoo Beauty. Maintaining your hair year-round is the most important part of hair coloring, she says. “You don’t have to break the bank to do so, either.”
Lock + Block ($26) is a mist spray formulated with UV absorbers to prevent color from oxidizing and shifting into weird shades, as well as vitamins A and E, which shield against humidity and pollution. The mist can be used after curling or flat-ironing hair to minimize breakage from heat-styling tools. It has a heavenly floral fragrance, and it leaves behind a nice sheen without weighing down hair. We’ve even tested it on synthetic hair extensions and were shocked to see that it didn’t make our weaves sticky or super-shiny.
You may not be able to afford a hair color appointment with Hazan, but she’s made it pretty easy and affordable to maintain your hair color just like her star clients.
