Hair Color Mix-Up Leaves Woman With Unwanted Black Roots

An English woman was left with a horrifying result after dyeing her hair at home — only to discover the box contained black dye instead of blond, the Daily Mail reports.
Katie Egglestone applied the dye to her roots before realizing the Garnier Nutrisse kit she’d bought contained black dye instead of blond — and that the products in the package weren’t even the right brand (how do you miss that before you color your hair?).
Egglestone believes she may be the victim of a mean prank and that someone may have switched the bottles, telling the Daily Mail: “Someone probably thought it would be funny to swap them. Maybe it was kids messing around with the open boxes.”

The 20-year-old receptionist had the dye sitting on her hair for about 10 minutes when she started to panic because it looked very dark. After washing it off, she realized she now had several inches of black roots.
“I was absolutely mortified when I saw the color of my roots,” Egglestone told the Daily Mail.

Egglestone told the Daily Mail she was able to repair her hair, saying, “I had to go and buy a dye-stripping product called Colour Before to remove the black dye.”
