This Body Butter Gave Me the Best Beauty Sleep
What if you could go to bed and wake up looking more beautiful than you did when you put your head on your pillow? Yes, a good night’s sleep works wonders, but there are plenty of products out there that aim to take your beauty to the next level — and all you have to do is lie there. What’s better than that?
But do they actually work? I put them to the test to find out, and I’m sharing the results in this weekly column, In Bed With.
Most nighttime beauty products promise to solve skin-care woes, fight aging, or treat dry skin. All of these are good things, but it’s rare to see a product that also helps overcome sleepless nights.
Neal’s Yard Remedies, a brand that was founded in Covent Garden in the early ’80s, is trying to change all that with its beauty sleep line. The company claims that its aromatic blends and body butters will encourage a solid night’s sleep, which, as we know, is the actual fountain of youth.
I took the Beauty Sleep Body Butter for a between-the-sheets sesh, and I was pleasantly surprised at how soothing and comforting this organic butter is.
Infused with calming essential oils like ylang-ylang and patchouli, as well as nourishing organic shea and cocoa butters, the cream has a supercalming aroma. I was worried about putting on a body butter before bed, because who wants greasy sheets? But the soft cream absorbed quickly, and the scent made me feel relaxed and sleepy, which isn’t surprising, since ylang-ylang oil not only smells good but has sedative properties.
Using this product, I woke up with softer skin, and I swear I slept more soundly. If all it takes for a good night’s sleep is a little body butter, I’ll skip counting sheep, thank you very much.
