Cool-Girl Haircut Alert: The Shag Is Back!

With the impending spring season, women will shed their overcoats in favor of lighter styles and chop their locks, replacing them with fresh cuts. And over the weekend, members of the celeb set gave us a sneak peek into that beauty trend, unveiling modern shag haircuts.

Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii — who has worked with Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Benson, and Kate Hudson, among others — posted a shot of Hudson checking out her freshly tousled cut in a mirror.

The stylist captioned the image, “Hmmmm does Kate like it, or does she think I finally lost my mind?! #thoughts #bit80s# newhaircut #choppybob #katehudson #mymuse @katehudson”

Fellow celeb hairstylist Mark Townsend praised Babaii’s work in the comments. “So gorgeous! Perfect cut!” he wrote. Another stylist, Gina Chioccariello, commented, “@davidbabaii this is SO awesome!! Love it!!! She can Rock any cut, but this shag you gave her is very cool!”

Another actress, Alison Brie, also ditched her longer tresses, debuting a dramatic new cut with choppy layers on Friday.

Hairstylist Ashley Streicher, who has worked with a number of high-profile clients — including Shailene Woodley, Mandy Moore, and Emma Stone — posted an image of Brie posing after her cut.

Commenters also raved about the new look on Streicher’s post.

Another celeb starting 2017 off with the trend? Selena Gomez. Hairstylist Marissa Marino posted a selfie of the pop star, in which she showcased her lob haircut.
