Fans Distraught as Selena’s MAC Collection Sells Out Online
There’s a new makeup line taking over the beauty industry — and, shockingly enough, it’s not a Kylie Cosmetics product.
MAC Cosmetics debuted its highly anticipated Selena collection on Friday to commemorate the life of the Mexican-American Tejano singer, who was killed in 1995. The collection includes, among other products, five shades of eyeshadow, liquid eyeliner, mascara, three shades of lipstick, and a lip gloss. The products were officially released at the MAC in-store launch party Friday in the singer’s hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, and were available online the next day.
However, to the dismay of many beauty aficionados across the U.S., the collection sold out online almost instantly. Disappointed customers took to social media to express their frustration with the situation.
MAC later posted a message on its website detailing the collection’s status and noted that due to “the passion and overwhelming excitement from Selena’s fans,” products were no longer available directly from Maccosmetics.com. The company also listed the select retailers that currently still have some stock available.
However, many of these retailers also immediately sold out of the products.
