Allison Williams was the picture of elegance and sophistication with her face-framing fishtail braids at the 2016 Met Gala on Monday night. She paired her ‘do with classic liner, big lashes and a deep burgundy lip, but our eyes were on her hair.

The ‘do was created by Rebekah Forecast for amika, and was inspired by the overall theme of the gala — Manus and Machina.
See below for a quick how-to on Williams’ braided updo:
1. Starting with damp hair, apply amika Bombshell Blowout Spray ($24, Sephora.com) throughout the hair.
2. Then, spritz on a heat protectant and blow-dry the hair using the amika Power Cloud Force Dryer ($150, Birchbox.com)
3. At the hairline, add extra volume with the amika Digital Titanium Glide Styler ($100, Birchbox.com) to add a bend in the root—make sure the hair is not lying flat against the head.

4. Begin to fishtail the hair in a spiral formation around the head, and secure with hairpins, as needed.
5. After each section of braid is complete, gently tug on the segments to widen the braid and spray with amika Un.Done Texture Spray ($24.00, Sephora.com) to add thickness.
7. Continue to spiral the fishtail around the head, and once complete, seal the look with amika Touchable Hairspray ($24, Birchbox.com)
