Make Your Blowout Survive a Workout
Everyone wants to preserve an impeccable blowout for as long as possible — but not at the expense of skipping a regular workout, right? Thankfully, Frédéric Fekkai, New York-based hairstylist to the stars, tells Yahoo Beauty that there is a way to keep your strands intact while working up a sweat.
“Before your workout, apply a dab of antifrizz cream to proactively stop flyaways from happening around your hairline,” Fekkai says. “You don’t want to use anything too heavy, though, just something with a nice, flexible hold, such as my Brilliant Glossing Crème ($20).” You’ll inevitably pull your hair into a ponytail or topknot to get it off your neck, though — and Fekkai says there’s an advantage to doing so. “Pulling hair taut and high will add the benefit of volume when you let it down,” he explains.
Postworkout, Fekkai recommends using a travel-size dry shampoo to soak up any sweat or oil. His new Blowout Hair Refresher ($7.99), does that while adding volume and texture. He also suggests applying a lightweight finishing product, such as Hair Fragrance Mist ($20) to provide a subtle fresh scent, shine, and polish, and to tame flyaways.
When you crash later, avoid creating bed head by keeping your hair loose, avoiding any kinks that can be caused by elastic bands. “Tie your hair in a silk scarf to avoid static and frizz created by pillowcases,” Fekkai suggest. “Who doesn’t want to look that glamorous while they sleep?”
