"I wanted to play up her eyes, so I went for an edgy, sultry vibe by mixing charcoals and a shimmery aquamarine shade," makeup artist Jillian Dempsey tells InStyle. Once prepping the star with smooth skin and contoured cheekbones, she grabbed Chanel’s reliable Quadra Eye Shadow in Smoky Eyes ($61; chanel.com) for added intensity. She first dusted the matte black shade on Stewart’s lids and then switched to the shimmery teal hue from the brand’s Quadra Eye Shadow in Fascination ($59; chanel.com) for the outer corners. Next, using the same palette, she swept the cerulean shade along the inner corners and lower lash lines. “I curled her lashes and then applied several coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir ($30; chanel.com) to the top and bottom lashes, making special emphasis on the top outer lashes,” Dempsey adds. In typical Stewart fashion, she finished off the look with a barely-there lip.

As for her hair makeover? “I wanted to give Kristen a chic and effortlessly stylish new cut, something to perfectly reflect her personality,” hairstylist Giannandrea shares. “I began by chopping away the back and the sides of the hair with a pair of thinning shears to help create a steep layered grading and proceeded to razor cut the whole top to give Kristen her edgy, long pointed ends,” he says. “This cutting technique is playful and softly shapes the neck and cheekbones.” After chopping her strands, he applied Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer ($25; ulta.com) all over the roots to create body and texture. Once blow drying with his hands for added lift, he misted a workable hairspray and sectioned her hair into small and medium sections, passing a flat iron on the ends. Taking a dime-sized amount of Macadamia Professional Whipped Detailing Cream ($26; macadamiahair.com) in his fingers, he “created a deep side zigzag part to swoop over and then twisted each section to finesse the texture.”
