How to Pull Off This Summer’s It Hairstyle: The Icy Blond Bob

Three of the biggest female celebrities in the world are currently sporting chin length icy blond hair. And if Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift, and Kristen Stewart all have the same hairstyle, it’s safe to say it’s a trend — one we should all pay attention to.
But while it looks great, it’s a ’do that takes an awful lot of upkeep — and not all of us have the funds to enlist a pro hairdresser to touch up our roots every few weeks.
There’s always the option of dying your hair yourself, but it’s not advised.
“If you fancy going this light, you must be prepared for a little style maintenance,” celebrity hairdresser Mark Hill tells us. “I would always advise you go to a hairdresser when you want to go this light — they will be able to use the correct product for your natural color. Don’t just reach for the bleach bottle at home!
“Once the hairdresser has colored your hair, they’ll probably have to use a toner to get that gorgeous icy result. Roots will need to be touched up every three weeks or so to keep the look fresh, and in between visits to the salon you may have to use a toner shampoo to keep the cool tones.”

Thankfully, there is a second option. “If you don’t fancy the every-three-week trip to the salon, why not ask for just some extra-light-blond pieces to be weaved through the top sections of your hair — this will give the effect of being lighter but without the commitment,” Mark explains.
As for the style, a blunt bob shape shattered through with some textured layers will keep the style versatile. Go straight or add waves with a large barrel wand, says Mark.
“You’ll need to keep on top of regular trims to keep that sharp shape, so have a tidy up every six weeks. Taylor has a small face with pointed features, so this jaw skimming length really suits her,” he adds.
However, the cut can be adapted to suit most people. “Go a little longer if you have a heavy jaw or rounder face, no fringe (bangs) if you have a high forehead, or even shorter if you have small, petite features.”
