Katy Perry Channels Andy Warhol’s Elizabeth Taylor

The sun might still be shining, we may have few more weekends left at the beach, but you know the end of summer is near when the glossy pages of the September issues hit the stands. The biggest magazines of the year are always accompanied by some of the best covers, and the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar is one of the coolest.

Pop star Katy Perry did two covers for Bazaar. One where she looks glam and high-fashion, and a second, where Perry goes full-blown Elizabeth Taylor through pop artist Andy Warhol’s lens. The original Warhol image of Taylor is cut in half with Perry mimicking the same bold, colorful eye makeup. The cover is part of Bazaar global fashion director Carine Roitfeld’s annual “Icons” series, which features our favorite stars channeling various style legends (think Mariah Carey as Marie Antoinette and Jessica Chastain as Joan of Arc).
There is probably no better fit than Perry to take on the 1960s Warhol version of Taylor (she even has the violet eyes nailed) but the look really came together thanks to the work of makeup artist Tom Pecheux and hairstylist Olivier Schawalder. We think this cover itself has total icon potential. And that Taylor might have looked pretty cool with a nose ring.
