Keke Palmer Breaks Down Why Covering Up Her Acne 24/7 Is ‘Fake’
Keke Palmer deserves a hearty round of applause for three reasons right now. For starters, the cranberry-colored braids she’s been rocking are superdope and accentuate her personal swag. Secondly, she just did a sizzling hot collaboration with ShoeDazzle. Last, but certainly not least, Palmer vented, shut down a hater-friend, and delivered a message all in one casual sitting on the pressures of always looking perfect, which many women can probably relate to.
With or without makeup, Palmer is comfortable in her skin and owns it. That may be the very reason it baffled her when a friend revealed that she wasn’t too fond of when the 23-year-old actress goes makeup-free.
On Wednesday, Palmer posted a video on Instagram explaining that her friend told her that she loves her style, except when she sports a “no-makeup natural look because you don’t be looking polished.”

Palmer went on to discuss how the whole idea of being polished all the time is fake. “That’s the problem, everybody’s walkin’ around trying to be polished 24/7. That s*** is fake as f***. No offense because definitely the diva persona is appreciated. When I think about Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton, or Whitney Houston — of course, that is something that’s beloved, but that’s not me,” she said.
She added, “I’m definitely a diva, but I’m a 2017 millennial diva. And anytime I’m looking rough or not carpet-ready, it’s because there’s not a f***ing carpet around. Point being — it’s not a mistake to look in your natural state.”
As one could imagine, Palmer’s down-to-earth spirit had followers feeling empowered and excited to hear her speak out about this issue. Kaylaloves19 commented, “She’s so right maybe I should listen to her and embrace my natural beauty I’m sick and tired of wearing makeup everyday it makes me feel like I don’t appreciate how I naturally look.”
Palmer has been spotted out and about effortlessly chic and showing of her natural beauty. Who could be mad at that?
Okay, so here's the gag. I stepped into a time travel machine in '93 and was just released 2016.

This is why Palmer is so relatable and absolutely makes us feel like normal human beings too. It’s not a stance you see young celebrities taking every day, but in due time, we hope others will catch on.
