#likeagirl, It's A Good Thing
I love this new campaign from Always. It’s inspiring, empowering, and it shows that perception changes everything. Filmmaker Lauren Greenfield asks people to demonstrate what it means to run, throw, and fight like a girl. For many—including grown women—that meant looking ridiculous, weak, and the total opposite of powerful.
When Greenfield asks girls under age 10 the same question, they showed strength, determination, and confidence. The point is that somewhere along the line, possibly in puberty, girls’ self confidence changes dramatically. Too many people think the phrase ‘like a girl’ is an insult, including girls. The Always #likeagirl campaign aims to change that. They want to make the phrase mean something awesome. This campaign is a great start. Perception really is everything. When young girls see themselves as amazing and fierce, anything is possible.
