Low Maintenance Beauty is In

The Kardashians aside, since the spring collections hit the runway back in September more and more women are embracing the slightly undone, natural look. What exactly does this mean? Flyaways, well-hydrated skin, and that lit from within glow are all the rage right now. Makeup artist Pat McGrath created a healthy natural glow for models at Victoria Beckham and the models at BCBG put on moisturizer as a finishing touch to their fresh-faced look. This also means that skin care is taking center stage. More and more designers are enlisting skin care teams, like Sunday Riley and Kiehl’s to prep models backstage before they go into hair and makeup and we are seeing a bigger emphasis on the skin care routines of stars before they hit the red carpet.

When it comes to hair, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau tells Vogue, “My idea of the chicest woman now is someone who comes in with hair just above the collarbone, the ends untouched, and with color so subtle you can’t tell anything’s been done.” We are seeing shorter hair with more natural texture, both on the red carpet and in plenty of Instagram selfies.
