The newest fragrance from fashion designer Marc Jacobs, coming this fall, is going to be his most luxurious. Decadence joins Daisy, Lola, and Dot in the collection of fragrances by Jacobs, and this one is for the sexy, extroverted girl. “I like the idea of that extrovert, that show-off, and I like the things that symbolize her — whether it’s the beads or the feathers or the sequins,” says Jacobs in an interview with WWD. “It’s all the trappings of the extrovert more interesting to me than they ever were before.”
Jacobs worked with Annie Buzantian at Firmenich, a fragrance and flavor company founded in 1895 in Switzerland, in developing the new scent. It combines Italian plum, iris and saffron with Bulgarian rose, vetiver, and papyrus woods. While the scent sounds luxurious, it’s the bottle that people will be the most excited about.
“I wanted something that evoked the sense of a bag, with python and gold chain and a black silk tassel, so it had a kind of opulence and glamour and became an object of desire,” Jacobs told WWD. By the looks of it, he got exactly that. The fragrance will be sold in three sizes, and the collection will also include a body lotion and bath gel.
The ad campaign, which will debut online in September and in print come October, is shot by legendary photographer Steven Meisel and stars Brazilian model Adriana Lima, who recently accompanied Jacobs to the Met Gala. “You can feel her sex appeal from a mile away, but there’s also this charm and youthfulness to her,” says Jacobs.
