If you’ve ever taken a look through Mindy Kaling’s social media accounts, you know that she’s pretty open about her favorite behind-the-scenes beauty treatments. She has displayed a few killer manicures, as well as her love of sheet masks, but this time the actress revealed her favorite skin care products in a new blog post on li.st.com (which is, incidentally, brought to you in part by Kaling ex and costar B.J. Novak).
She began explaining that she suffers from oily skin and that even though people continue to tell her the oil will subside with age, she hasn’t seen a difference just yet. The products range from drugstore brand to luxury items, and Kaling makes sure to reiterate that each one isn’t necessarily used together but that they’re simply in her rotation of the moment. Read on for her current must-haves:
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser ($15)

Cetaphil has a pretty loyal cult following — and for good reason. The drugstore brand, called “old faithful” by Mindy, is inexpensive and removes excess oil without drying out the skin.
Babor Cleansing CP Enzyme Cleanser ($34)

According to Mindy, this product will gently exfoliate the skin while taking off every last bit of makeup (even eye makeup!).
SK-II Pitera Starter Kit ($69)

Celebrities have been swearing by SK-II forever, so it’s no surprise that Kaling is a fan as well (she even noted in her post that Cate Blanchett is a fan). Mindy further explains why she likes the set, saying, “It’s a very clean and uncomplicated skin care system that’s anti-aging and wakes me up.”
Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Pure Retinol Express Smoothing Eye Mask ($63)

Yes, this product comes at a steep price point, but the super-concentrated treatment works extremely well to fade wrinkles and depuff the eye area in as little as 15 minutes.
bioCorneum+ (Prescription only)

Although preventing scars might not be at the forefront of your skin care routine, Kaling has a good point when it comes to recommending a product like this. “I start using this the instant I get any kind of abrasion, to avoid a scab becoming a scar.” With summer around the corner, it might not be a bad idea to stock up on this physician-dispensed product before any adventurous vacation activities leave you with a cut that ultimately scars.
Dr. Denese SPF 30 Defense Day Cream ($75)

Considering how important sunscreen is for wrinkle and skin-cancer prevention, it’s good to see one on Kaling’s must-haves list. Dr. Denese, she explains, has sunscreen “that is truly mattifying but also not chalky on my dark skin.” she says it’s “terrific as a primer before makeup. Been searching for this one … magnificent.”
Tria Acne Clearing Blue Light ($299)

According to Kaling, this device has been a skin saver for times in which a breakout occurred right before going on talk shows. “I don’t need no James Corden staring at a pimple on my forehead,” she jokes. Use this device at the first sign of a breakout to kill the acne-causing bacteria before it gets out of hand.
