Model Caroline Trentini Spills Her Beauty Secrets
Model Caroline Trentini at the Prabal Gurung fall 2015 fashion show/Instagram.
Brazilian model Caroline Trentini began modeling at age 15 and has since graced the cover of Vogue, starred in a Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign, and has graced numerous runways from New York to Paris. I caught up with the freckle-faced model backstage at the Prabal Gurung fall 2015 show where the new mom closed the show (in fashion land, that is a big deal). Trentini dished about her beauty routine, how she’s dealing with the New York City cold, and her favorite runway beauty moments.
Alexandra Perron: It’s really cold here today! How are you surviving?
Caroline Trentini: I’m not surviving! I’m Brazilian so this is so cold! I made my husband and my baby come here and stay for a few days, because I can’t be away from my baby for too long but we can’t even go outside. It’s way too cold!
AP: What are some of your winter beauty essentials?
CT: Even though it’s hard, I try to drink water. We aren’t in the sun and it’s not warm so we forget to drink water. I think that is very important. I always moisturize, especially my hands. I have a favorite moisturizer from Brazil from this brand call Natura. It’s really good, healthy and organic, and it smells good too.
AP: When you aren’t in front of the camera, do you keep your beauty look low key?
CT: Being a mom, it’s very difficult to be taking care of yourself all the time. I do the basics in the morning. I wash my face and put a nice moisturizer on. I do a little concealer and I have this lip balm from MAC that has rosy color, so I use that on my lips and my cheeks. And that’s it, it’s pretty much all I do. If I go for a lip, I go red for sure, and then no eyes. It’s nice to do basic perfect skin, like we did here [at the Prabal Gurung show].
AP: You’ve walked so many amazing shows, do you have any favorite fashion week beauty moments?
CT: Always Galliano and Dior. We had some great moments that were so crazy, so over the top. The funniest thing is going home after in your jeans with this crazy makeup still on. People would look at you in your jeans, sneakers and then you were in this full Dior look with no eyebrows.
AP: What is your definition of beauty?
CT: It’s a cliche, but it really does come from inside. Now that I have a family, a child, I’m exhausted, I sleep very little everyday and people say ‘Oh my god, you look so fresh.’ And I think it’s because I’m happy. It comes from inside. It’s about being happy with your life and yourself.
