NYFW Tip Alert: The Secret to Perfect Waves
Tips for getting perfect beach waves from the NYFW runways. Each day of New York Fashion Week the Yahoo Beauty editors will be sharing one life-changing beauty tip from the makeup artists, hair stylists, nail artists, and models we meet backstage.
Fashion week is off to a very beachy start. Models hit the runway at BCBG and Erin Fetherston with loose, easy, waves, looking like they came straight from their summer shares to the shows.

At BCBG, hairstylist Orlando Pita ditched the braids and instead twisted up sections of damp hair, letting them air dry during the runway rehearsal before brushing them out into day-at-the-beach waves. He layered TRESemme Make Waves Shaping Gel Cream and Make Waves Shine Enhancing Cream on damp hair to help give hold to those California cool waves and topped them off with a patchwork bucket hat for the catwalk.

For Erin Fetherston, stylist Matthew Curtis prepped hair using John Masters Organics Rose & Apricot Hair Milk and created the wavy texture using a curling iron. He finished the look by brushing through the waves and spraying a light layer of John Masters Organics Sea Mist all over the dry hair for a cool, lived-in look. Don’t go putting away that salt spray just yet!
