Olivia Wilde’s Manus x Machina Met Gala look totally slays, and it’s simple enough that you can pull it off despite the lack of galas in your life – we promise.

Olivia opted for an avant garde Michael Kors dress with a nod to the ‘70s, and both the makeup and manicure looks ran with this theme. “I was inspired by the dress’s black and metallic duo chromatic design, and we wanted the makeup look to be as dramatic and modern as the feel of the dress,” Makeup artist Mélanie Iglesias told Yahoo Beauty. “The focus of the look was Olivia’s mesmerizing eyes.” The creative process on the makeup look was a collaborative effort. “It starts with the stylist and the dress then from then, we all pull references from either editorial shoots or runway or just an iconic time and we discuss,” said Iglesias. “It’s a team effort and that is how we get the best look!”

Wilde has a new pregnancy glow on her side, but a bit of help from masks can never hurt. Wilde opted for SISLEY Linden Blossom Mask the morning of the event to moisturize and illuminate, and the SISLEY Eye Contour Mask chilled in the fridge to reduce puffiness around the eye and create the perfect base for concealer. Iglesias prepped the skin with SISLEY Sisle?a L’Intregral to plump and glow, followed by SISLEY Nutritive Lip Balm, which she removes just before applying the lipstick.

Working on flawless skin, Iglesias played up Olivia’s dewy complexion using REVLON ColorStay Makeup in Natural Beige followed by REVLON ColorStay 2-in-1 Compact Makeup and Concealer under the eyes using fingers to dab in an upward motion. “To add luminosity to her face, I highlighted Olivia’s cheekbones, brow bones and the inner corner of the eyes with the NEW REVLON PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting sticks in Gold Light, followed by REVLON Powder Blush in Bronzilla for a sunkissed finish,” said Iglesias.

“As the focus of the look, I created a very strong editorial duo chromatic eye by mixing bold silver metallic shades and blacks,” Iglesias said of matching Olivia’s eyes to her bold dress. She started with the metallic silver shade from theREVLON Illuminance? Crème Shadows in Precious Metals palette on the center of the lid, then mixing the silver and black from REVLON Illuminance? Crème Shadows in Black Magic to create a dark silver for the crease. She then used the black alone on the outer corners and smudged all three colors along the bottom lash line for a smoky finish, and REVLON PhotoReady Kajal Matte Eye Pencil in Coal along the waterline. She used REVLON Ultimate All-In-One Mascara in Blackest Black on the top and bottom lashes and left brows softly feathered using REVLON Brow Fantasy in Light Brown. Iglesias finished off the makeup look with a sheer neutral lipstick to keep the attention on the eyes while still adding a touch of color. “I outlined lips with with REVLON ColorStay Lip Liner in Natural then painted with REVLON Super Lustrous Lipstick in Honey Bare for the perfect nude pout to complete the look,” she said.

Olivia’s nail look also drew inspiration from her dress. “When first deciding on the nail look we pull some ideas from the dress, which is black and silver. We kept going back and forth between black and silver nails to match, and by combining both we ultimately got a really gorgeous effect,” manicurist Chelsea King told Yahoo Beauty. “Revlon’s Colorstay Gel Ency polish in ‘Lucky Us’ matched perfectly!” She wanted the nail look to appear different colors “depending on how she shows off her hands.” King started by clipping Olivia’s nails into an almonst shape and refining with a buffer and a file. She created a base with one coat of REVLON Quick Dry Base Coat followed by two coats of REVLON Nail Enamel in Knockout. “For a pop of glam, I painted underneath the free edge of the nails with a coat of REVLON ColorStay Gel Envy in Up In Lucky Us, then sealed the look with REVLON ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat to add a brilliant diamond shine,” said King. We’ve seen great nail looks like this one on other stars like Adele, but painting the undersides of your nails can seem a little intimidating. “When applying polish underneath your nails it could get a bit messy, so clean up any mistakes with an angled eyeliner brush dipped in remover,” King recommends. “I love Revlon’s Shape n’ Buff File for shaping your nails, use a nail clipper to trim nails to a slight point, and then use the file to round it out. For this look we painted underneath the nail, so I like to use the buffer side of this file and run it underneath the free edge to get it clean and free of debris.” Now go try it at home.
