On Calvin Klein’s “Bigger” Model…

Last week, 27-year-old model  Myla Dalbesio told Elle.com, “It’s kind of confusing because I’m a bigger girl.” The 27-year-old was talking about her new campaign for Calvin Klein underwear, a campaign in which she stars alongside more traditionally sized models like Lara Stone and Ji Hye Park. But Dalbesio’s only a size 10. I personally think she’s not only stunning, but strong, beautiful, lean, and aspirational. It’s a very inspiring image and I think strong and lean is a much better look than underfed or super skinny.

I believe that women have all different body types and it’s so easy not to feel good about your own because we’re bombarded with images of Amazons. But they’re born that way; there are so few people who actually look like that. The supermodel breed is a teeny tiny breed, and it’s not achievable. So the more great role models with differing body types the better, from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to a strong athlete to Michelle Obama—it’s important to celebrate who you are.
