Reality Star and Beauty Maven Blac Chyna Can Be Your Life Coach
Blac Chyna is a woman who should be on every vision board.
The 28-year-old has established herself as a budding beauty powerhouse and bona fide boss. Though she came into mainstream cultural consciousness as the jilted ex of Tyga (who allegedly left her for then-underaged Kylie Jenner), she reemerged, phoenix-style, as the boo of the young reality star’s older brother, Rob Kardashian. Since then, their ups, downs, in-betweens, and the birth of their daughter, Dream, have dominated tabloid headlines.
Chyna, who started out as an exotic dancer, is also a businesswoman, mother of two, trendsetter and beauty muse. Chyna’s own endeavors — Lashed Cosmetics and the Lashed Bar, where women can get their lashes and makeup done, as well as a variety of other beauty services — is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her future business plans.
But for now, she’s expanding the Lashed brand with the launch of an epic lip set. This week, Lashed rolled out a $150 limited edition set of 12 matte and shiny lipsticks, which you can customize by choosing from a 21-hue selection. Here’s what she had to say about her life, onscreen and off.
Yahoo Style: How did you come up with the idea for your limited-edition lip collection?
Blac Chyna: I wanted to expand my cosmetics brand, and I believe that a good lip can completely enhance and woman’s face and complete a look.
How do you see your beauty empire evolving and growing?
My goal is to be mass market with a range of products that include cosmetics and skin care. My dream (no pun intended) is to have a chain of med spas.
What message do you want to send out to young women who look up to you?
My message to young woman is [to] never let your past or current situation determine your future. Never doubt yourself, be proactive, don’t get caught up in people’s opinions. Follow your heart and do what makes you happy.
You have a daughter now. What do you want to teach her about beauty and loving herself as she gets older?
I want Dream to know that her beauty is unique and special. All of the things about her that are different make her special. Her eyes are different from mine, her hair is different — and those are the things that are most beautiful.
When do you feel the most confident, the most “you”?
When I’m with my team working on my businesses.
Whose beauty cabinet would you raid and why?
Mariah Carey because she is LEGEND!
With Lashed, you’re really connecting with women of color about beauty. You’re an entrepreneur, and black women are the fastest-growing group of business owners. Do you see yourself as a role model?
I am a role model for anyone who has the goal of not letting their past define them.
You run a black-owned beauty business, and color matching and foundation is a huge issue for women of color and very pale women. Can we possibly expect foundations in the future?
I will expand into foundations when my Lashed Bars and med spa can allow for women to come in and get custom matched. Selling solely online, it’s difficult to know which color foundation works for you.
You posted an epic series of photos for Black History Month. Can you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind it and what you wanted to convey with the images?
I wanted a photo to celebrate Black History Month and my inner queen — flaws and all.
We love the adorable family photo you posted with your kids Dream and King. Can you tell us what inspired it?
King actually inspired it. He asked everyone to put on the PJs Rob bought, and once we were all in them it was the perfect photo op. I just started snapping.
Tell me your easy daily beauty routine, what you do when you’re not going out?
Wash my face with Lashed face wash and moisturize with La Mer. I’m always Lashed, and I usualIy wear a pale pink lip gloss from my collection.
