Australian actress Rebel Wilson made some pitch perfect statements as Cosmopolitan UK’s Ultimate Woman of the Year and the cover star of the January 2016 issue. Wilson, 35, made her name in Hollywood in the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids alongside Kristen Wiig, but since then, she’s appeared in some of the funniest female empowering films of the decade, from the Pitch Perfect franchise to Bachelorette. Wilson, who plays “Fat Amy” in Pitch Perfect, told Cosmopolitan UK about how she used her size to her advantage in the film industry — especially since her size was a feature that the industry refused to ignore.

“Being unique and different was a really good thing,” Rebel told Cosmopolitan UK. “When I walked into my agent’s office for the first time [in 2009], they looked at me and said, ‘Wow, we have nobody on our books like you.’ And they signed me on my second day here.” In 2010, she moved to Los Angeles, where she signed with William Morris Endeavor and was cast in Bridesmaids.
“I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call 'the glamours’ — the really gorgeous people,” she said. “I’m about the brain, the heart and what’s on the inside. I feel really lucky to be the body type I am.” She also told the magazine that she has become healthier since her move to Los Angeles, capital city of the cold-pressed juice. “Living in LA you learn a lot about health. I now drink green juices and I’m trying to do gluten-free,” she said. “But I don’t do it 100 perfect — I’m not a maniac!” Wilson says eating is her “one vice” since she doesn’t really drink or do drugs: “I wouldn’t ever want to totally give it up.”

With her affable personality and hardworking disposition, it’s not surprising that Wilson has made friends with another Hollywood cover girl: Jennifer Lawrence. She even claims that Lawrence is the funnier one, though Lawrence has not appeared in as many comedies as Wilson: “[Lawrence] is just the most naturally hilarious person. She’s way funnier than me and a real story-teller,” Wilson said. “If she was in a comedy she’d smash it.”

Wilson will be in the upcoming film, How to Be Single, in 2016 — but even before the movie is released, she already has her stance on being single: “I’m very independent and have been single for most of my life…It’s good because I do whatever the hell I want.”
