See This 7-Year-Old's Triumph Over Cancer Through Pics Taken on First and Last Day of School
Children around the country are celebrating that school’s out, but for 7-year-old Sophi Eber, there is a much bigger reason to celebrate. After six rounds of chemotherapy, 14 rounds of radiation, a nine-hour surgery, and immunotherapy, Sophie is a cancer survivor.
From Parksville, Missouri, Sophie and her parents, Bethany and Zachary Eber, took to Facebook and Reddit to share the inspirational photo a teacher took of the little one the last day of school. She is seen holding a photo of herself on the first day of school.
The change she has undergone in one year is dramatic. She proudly poses with a big smile and a shirt that reads “little warrior.” And that’s exactly what she is.
On February 2016, Sophi was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that occurs most often in infants and children under age 10, according to the American Cancer Society. After accidentally getting something in her eye during a family hike, her parents took her to urgent care and that’s when the doctors noticed her blood pressure was incredibly high. After a next-day visit to the ER, the cancer was found.
“Throughout this process Sophi has been the example of bravery and positivity, helping all of us cope,” her parents write on her website. Sophi’s parents said they are grateful for the incident that allowed them to discover the cancer early and seek immediate treatment.
The soon-to-be second grader shares her feelings of battling cancer through videos posted on her Facebook page and Youtube Channel. She hopes to inspire and give hope to other battling hard times.
“This wholesome post is exactly what I needed after a long work week. Blessings to you, your daughter, and your family!” wrote a commenter.
“My kiddo too had stage IV neuroblastoma. She is currently 2 months from her 5-year mark where we get to say she is cured. Hang in there.” wrote another commenter.
Sophi has big dreams when she grows up, she wants to become a doctor. “I think being a doctor for cancer is a really good job. Because I went through cancer, I know what to expect,” Sophi said to KCTV.
