Staying Fresh-Faced in a Heat Wave

When the temperature’s hitting almost a hundred, you need to update your makeup bag and skip some products altogether. Here’s how to create a pretty makeup look that won’t melt off.
Skip moisturizer. I don’t care how dry you are, moisturizers can melt off. Use sunscreen instead. I like Bullfrog for SPF. If it’s sunny out or you’re in a really hot climate, treat it like you’re on a beach vacation. You may not realize it, but you’re often exposed to the same intense levels of sun.
Skip foundation. If you have a blemish you can cover it with a little bit of concealer, but you’ll need to keep applying throughout the day. Maybe this is an opportunity to let it go.
If your eye makeup slides off, it may be because there’s moisture on your eyelid. Dry your skin with a sponge or a puff, or try adding a loose powder or eyeshadow that matches your lid first.
If you must wear blush, try a powdered formula. Don’t worry if it rubs off. By the end of the day you’ll have the bonus of a natural flush. Just remember to carry blotting papers in your bag to dab away moisture.
Go waterproof. Fill in your brows with a pencil that is 100 percent waterproof, otherwise it is going to smear. Line your eye with a waterproof pencil and apply a couple coats of waterproof mascara so it lasts all day.
For a pop of color, try a longwearing lipstick or gloss.
Stay hydrated. Drinking lots of water will replenish your body and keep your skin looking great.
