Students Rally to Reinstate Teacher Suspended for Sexy Selfies
Lydia Ferguson probably didn’t think much about a series of photos she shared to her social media networks, other than the fact that she looked fabulous and fashion-forward. The schoolteacher and mother of three was suspended from her teaching post for uploading the so-called “sultry” photos to Facebook, but students are demanding she be hired back to the job.
Ferguson, 39, taught at the Ousedale School in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, England. According to reports from the Sun, students at the 2,000-pupil school filmed Ferguson being told off for being too sultry by school officials in her photos and getting escorted from the premises. Students have since launched a petition asking for their beloved teacher to return to her post, with many parents signing the document.
The chatter around Ferguson’s suspension has been robust, and on her Facebook page she appeared to defend her photo choices amid support from family and friends. One friend wrote, “love this pic, so natural,” and Ferguson replied, asking if she was being inappropriate. The friend replied “of course not,” with which Ferguson agreed.
She later added, “I’ve always stuck to a rule on FB and Insta that if my Grandad, bless his heart, would look at any of my pictures in disgust, then I would never post them.”
Ousedale head teacher Sue Carbert is aware of the students’ view of happenings and said in a statement that whatever occurred with Ferguson and the school would not be discussed with students. She further added that none of the accusations have a factual basis.
