#Baldandbadchallenge Is Beautifully Inspiring
Of all the viral social media movements that challenge society’s beauty norms, the #baldandbadchallenge might be our new favorite. The hashtag has women with little to no locks proudly posting pics of themselves to show off their unconventional beauty — and show that bald is indeed beautiful.
The challenge is bringing bald and nearly tress-free women to the forefront for reasons that run the gamut. Some lovely ladies are coming forward to put the spotlight on their battles against cancer while undergoing chemotherapy. Others are proudly bringing awareness to alopecia, a type of hair loss that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks hair follicles, according to WebMD.

Whatever the reason, every post we’ve seen on Twitter or Instagram of a woman or girl who is rocking a bald head is gorgeous and bold.

“Finally learning to love myself and how I looked 2 years ago,” wrote one Twitter user, Emily Winterstein, who also posted in September 2014 that she was “officially cancer free.”
Another beaming bald woman, Ariana Brazier, threw her hat in the ring and wrote, “Alright. My turn,” showing off pics of herself visiting with children who are bald just like her. One picture she posted with bright red lips is particularly stunning.

Being real & vulnerable here. This is what it really looks like to be bald fighting cancer. Not always cute. Still bad. #BaldAndBadChallenge pic.twitter.com/MG2Fv4k7Zl
