One of the biggest changes in my skin came after I started using face oils. The combination of an oil cleanser with moisturizing face oil turns skin from dull and dry to radiant and hydrated. It’s a myth that oils cause breakouts, instead they heal and revive skin. Here’s how to make face oils work for you:
To remove dirt and makeup without stripping your skin, try a cleansing facial oil. Some versions can be applied directly to dry skin to remove dirt and makeup. Then they are rinsed off with warm water.
All skin types can use face oils. It won’t add greasiness to your skin or clog pores, instead they just restores the natural balance.
While you can use oils found in the health food store like jojoba oil, many beauty brands create targeted blends of a variety of oils for maximum moisture.
In the winter, layering cream moisturizers with face oil is the key to providing a serious boost to skin. Start with oil and then layer a cream moisturizer or balm on top. If you want really dewy skin pat a little oil your cheeks as a third layer of moisture.
Oils can be used on the body as well. It’s my go-to for anywhere that’s very dry like cuticles, elbows, and ankles.
