The Secret to Supermodel Hair

The fashion world went crazy earlier this week when Burberry released the campaign images for My Burberry, their newest fragrance. That’s right—it was the ad for the scent that sent the Internet into a frenzy, instead of the scent itself. The reason? The world’s two most talked about models—Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne—star side by side for the first time. Yes it’s a big deal, but an even bigger deal? That hair. Their insouciant waves are the work of legendary hairstylist Christiaan, who tells Allure that the secret to their blond nonchalance is Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray ($42).
I’ve interviewed enough hairstylists to know just how much they depend on Oribe’s black and gold can of magic. Luckily, an increasing number of brands are jumping on this idea of dry texture, launching formulas that add movement, volume, and piecey-ness to hair, without weighing it down or making it crunchy. Shu Ueumura’s Dry Finishing Spray ($38) gives hair a matte finish, while Redken’s Wind Blown 05 ($18) gives your hair an uptown version of that just back-from-the-beach look. Blowpro’s Dry Texture Spray ($19) is paraben and sulfate-free, and Joico actually makes a spray-able wax ($16)—the ideal way to add texture to a long bob (or any above the shoulder cut). As for those cheekbones, well, we can’t help you there.
