A Man Asked Why Women Do Nail Art When Guys Don’t Like It. Niecy Nash Had the Perfect Comeback

With the women’s march set for Washington, D.C., next week, now, more than ever, women are speaking up and advocating for themselves. It’s no surprise that Niecy Nash, a comedian, producer and actress, had a response loud and ready when a male TV critic at TCA asked her and her cast of TNT’s “Claws” why they paint their nails.

“Claws” is a dramedy set in a nail salon that follows the rise of five diverse manicurists working at Nail Artisan, a salon in Manatee County in South Florida. The TV critic (unwisely) asked Nash, “But why do nail art, if men don’t like it?” As you can imagine, Niecy Nash’s clapback game was strong. “Who cares what men think? We want to do what we want to do.”

And then, the reaction started on Twitter.

Supporters took to Twitter, hashtagging #Claws, to explain why they didn’t care what men thought about them, and challenging them to stop feeling entitled to police other people. That just isn’t going to fly with today’s progressive women.
