This Year’s Oscars $100K Health-Themed Swag Bag Includes a Kegel Tracker
Whether they take home Oscars or not, the 25 top nominees at the Academy Awards will be gifted with outrageously expensive swag bags. They are courtesy of an entertainment marketing company not affiliated with the Academy, Distinctive Assets, as they’ve been for the past 15 years. And even though there’s no evidence that these bags ever actually make it to the nominees — and the Academy has gone to great lengths to distance itself from Distinctive Assets, even suing the company in 2015 — the absurd gifts make headlines every year.
That trend continues now, as this year’s bags will reportedly include over $100,000 worth of gifts, ranging from Hawaiian retreats and mansion stays to Chapstick and Crayola crayons. And though the bags tend to be stocked with luxurious getaways, Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary told Insider that only about 10 percent of recipients redeem the trips.
But the bag is unique this year in that there is an apparent theme among the 42 gifts: Nearly half of the items are health-related products. The swag is said to include a kegel tracker, aka a limited-edition pelvic-floor exerciser from Elvie, as well as a fitness bottle that minimizes bacteria accumulation, a 14-karat solid gold and diamond encrusted “om” bracelet from Yogajewelz, and the following items:
A case of apples each month for nine months from Opal, a farm that claims their apples don’t brown after slicing
Dual layer pillow from Casper
