Women Over 50 Rule the 2015 Emmys
Movies lately are a yawn-inducing repetitive loop of superheroes and blockbuster sequels. Plus, any cool roles for women over 50 seem automatically to go to Meryl Streep. Sadly, there seem to be fewer and fewer richly layered, complex roles for more seasoned actresses. But on the small screen, it’s an entirely different story. TV is celebrating mature women with smart, powerhouse, kickass roles. Think Viola Davis’s sexy, diabolical, brilliant professor on How to Get Away With Murder, Jessica Lange’s not one but four distinctive roles on American Horror Story, or comedy genius Lily Tomlin reuniting with Jane Fonda on Grace & Frankie.
At the 2015 Emmys the best in television and some of the greatest actresses ever were in the spotlight. Check out the women who ruled the night.
