When picking a shadow, look for one is almost sheer and not too dry. This will look the most natural while still being noticeable and pretty.

This is simple—add some black eyeliner and a bit of silver or gold sparkle on the cheeks for a beautiful and quick update. A red lip is also a quick, classic update.

Do I really need a whole eye shadow palette to do a smoky eye or can I do it with just one shadow color?

Dear Jessica,

A smoky eye is best when you layer and smudge multiple eye shadows. You could do this using just a black and ivory shadow, but it will be even easier if you also incorporate a grey shadow.
