Hi Bobbi,
As someone with perpetually dry lips (especially in the winter), many lipsticks that I’ve tried fade quickly and feel very dry. Do you have any tips to help it stay on and feel great on the lips?
Thank you!
Hannah
Dear Hannah,
The trick to making your lipstick last is layering creamy and dry textures. Prep your lips before applying any lipstick by using a balm to add moisture and make lipstick go on smoother. To get long wear, start by filling in the entire lip using a neutral lip pencil and then apply your favorite lipstick over it. When lipstick begins to fade, you’ll be left with a pretty stain on your lips.

Dear Bobbi,
I wear a lot of lipstick but never use a liner. When should I be using a lip liner and what’s the best way to apply it?
Best,
Camila
Dear Camila,
I don’t consider a lip liner an absolute necessity for all women but it is a good option if you want to add more definition to your lips, if you want to keep your lipstick from feathering, or if you want to make your lipstick longer-lasting.
For definition, line lips after you apply lipstick and choose a shade that matches your lipstick or gloss. If you want to make your lipstick last longer, fill in and line lips with your liner before you apply lipstick.

Dear Bobbi,
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect red lipstick for what seems like forever. What are your tips for finding the right shade?
Thanks!
Anna
Dear Anna,
First, find a shade that you are comfortable wearing. If you love bold color and want a big statement lip, go for blue-red and orange-red shades. For a more subtle red lip, try using a red lip gloss. It will give you full color without the maintenance.
There is a red lipstick out there for every woman. You want a shade that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no makeup. This will be the magic color that will make your skin, hair, and eyes look their best.
