Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora Reunite for Daughter’s Sweet 16
Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora's little girl is growing up — and the friendly exes came together to celebrate their only child.
Ava Sambora turned 16 on Friday and marked the milestone with a big bash at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village, California. The guest of honor, who is an aspiring model, wore a form-fitting white dress and looked a lot like her actress mom during her early days of stardom. She posed for a some snapshots with her famous parents, who were both dressed in black.
The "Melrose Place" actress, 52, had on a very rock 'n' roll leather jacket and giant hoop earrings and the 54-year-old guitarist, who is currently on a hiatus from Bon Jovi, wore a black blazer. Despite divorcing in 2007, Heather and Richie — whose styles haven't changed much over the years — appeared to get along. At one point, he guided his ex, who has been dating plastic surgeon Mark Mani, through the room with his hand on her back.
Things weren't always peachy for the one-time couple, especially when he started dating Heather's friend Denise Richards right after their divorce. However, that on-again/off-again relationship fizzled and things improved for Richie and Heather, who have made other joint appearances to support their daughter through the years, including when she walked the runway during L.A. Fashion Week in 2010.
As for the party itself, it was a teen's dream. Singer Ryan Beatty was there to perform and serenaded Ava with a fun rendition of "Happy Birthday to You." When the guests weren't showing off their dance moves or taking pix in the photo booth, they snacked on a towering pink and purple cake.
Most importantly, the birthday girl — or the "birthday b***h," as she referred to herself on Instagram — was happy with her party.
"Best 24 hours i've ever had," she tweeted. "Thank you so much to everyone who made my birthday so special!"
It goes without saying that her doting dear old mom and dad are at the top of that list.
