Dreads Aren't a Cute Look for Justin Bieber

Canadian boy wonder Justin Bieber has adopted the traditional hairstyle of the European fur traders from which he most likely descends: dreadlocks. Right, yes, dreadlocks are a decidedly black hairstyle.
Because of this fact, there’s a bit of a rift amongst the wokest of the Beliebers.

Bieber showed off his new hair on Instagram, where he himself seemed to be questioning his own decisions writing, “Why.” Why, indeed. While he’s been on a strange and seemingly random hair journey lately, this newest style veers off the path of self-expression and into the land of cultural appropriation.
Last year, Bieber defended Kylie Jenner after she, too, was accused of cultural appropriation for putting her hair in braids.
“Guys leave her alone, we’re all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope!” Bieber wrote on her Instagram. “I’m the first to know this. BUt saying she’s being racist because she wants her hair in braids is ridiculous. Let’s focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid let’s do something about equality, but it doesn’t start here blasting a 17-year-old kid for wearing braids smh.”
