Smoking joints on stage is no different than what Miley Cyrus does in her living room. “I think weed is the best drug on earth. One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon,” she told Rolling Stone in 2013. “Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs — social drugs. They make you want to be with friends. You’re out in the open. You’re not in a bathroom. I really don’t like coke. It’s so gross and so dark. It’s like what are you, from the Nineties? Ew.” And her love affair with Mary Jane has only grown stronger. Willie Nelson
Willie Nelson may be 82 years old, but the country legend still loves his weed. In 2012, he released a book appropriately titled Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, in which pot makes appearances in multiple chapters. His hobby has even gained him a new friend and recording partner: Snoop Dogg. “You know, me and Snoop smoke a lot,” Nelson, who serves as an advisory board member for marijuana legalization advocacy group NORML, told Piers Morgan. “I was in Amsterdam one time and Snoop called me and wanted me to sing on his record. Snoop Dogg
Speaking of Snoop Dogg, the rapper is probably marijuana’s most famous advocate. He’s smoked everywhere from on stage at The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber to the White House, and thinks it should be legal for everyone to light up, too. “They need to legalize weed, because alcohol and tobacco are in the top five killers in the world,” the rapper said, while making smoke rings during a 2014 interview with Men’s Health. “Marijuana ain’t in the top 50.” Snoop is such a believer, in fact, that he invested in Eaze, dubbed the “uber for weed.” It’s a California-based startup that promises to deliver medical marijuana to your doorstep in less than 10 minutes. What do you know? The guy that starred in Pineapple Express likes to toke up! Seth Rogen’s never been shy about discussing his love for pot, but does he bring it to work? While promoting The Interview on The Howard Stern Show, Rogen was asked if he smokes weed when he is acting or directing. “Sometimes… it’s mostly if I have time available,” he revealed. “I made a conscious choice to not let it disrupt the flow of the work day. Few celebs are as vocal about their marijuana use as Woody Harrelson. The 54-year-old serves as an advisory board member of NORML, but the Hunger Games actor isn’t just focused on the legalization part. “I’ve seen it printed that I’m a marijuana activist, and I understand that, but it’s really just something I enjoy,” he said in a 2009 Playboy interview (during which he lit up). “I like the mellow vibe of herb, its uninhibiting effect. For me, it’s a better drug than any of the others, and since we’re all drug addicts, I don’t think it’s a bad choice. Megan Fox is also a big supporter of legalizing marijuana. “When they do, I’ll be the first person in line to buy my pack of joints,” she told GQ in 2009. “I can’t tell you how much bulls**t I’ve been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed. Rapper Wiz Khalifa — who’s been arrested for marijuana possession several times — is so enamored of the substance that he’s created his own strain. Rihanna’s very open about being a pot smoker. Another NORML advisory board member, longtime pot lover Bill Maher feels that times are changing when it comes to his quest for legalization. “I wouldn’t have said it two years ago,” the political pundit and TV host told the Las Vegas Weekly in 2013, “but now I would say I do think that I will see a time when the country legalizes marijuana.” While that hasn’t happened yet, he continues to push for legalization on his weekly HBO show, where he even smoked a joint on air with rapper Killer Mike in February to make the point that “legalizing pot is a long way from a done deal. She has a song called “Mary Jane” and had a recurring role on the TV series Weeds, so it’s no surprise to learn songstress Alanis Morissette enjoys pot. “As an artist, there’s a sweet jump-starting quality to [marijuana] for me,” Morissette told High Times in 2009. “I’ve often felt telepathic and receptive to inexplicable messages my whole life. I can stave those off when I’m not high. When I’m high — well, they come in and there’s less of a veil, so to speak. In a 2015 interview with The Daily Beast, Morgan Freeman explained why he has been a longtime advocate of marijuana legalization. “Marijuana has many useful uses,” said the 78-year-old Oscar winner. “How do I take it? Rosanne Barr has no shame in her weed game. In a chat with Esquire in 2013, the advocate — who is reportedly opening a medical marijuana dispensary in Santa Ana, Calif., called Roseanne’s Joint — explained she mostly smokes "for relief from anxiety. And because it makes you question things.” What things, you might ask? “Everything,” she said. “Pot enables you to think clearly without any fear or any limits. It’s a mind-expander, which is part of why it’s illegal and why drugs like Vicodin are legal.” She added how happy she was legalization was sweeping the country. “It’s such a great thing for American families and for freedom and liberty. After decades in the spotlight, fabled actor Jack Nicholson waited until the age of 73 to admit to the media he smokes pot, but insisted the days of hard drugs are long gone. “I don’t tend to say this publicly, but we can see [marijuana is] a curative thing,” he told the Daily Mail in January 2011. “The narcotics industry is also enormous. It funds terrorism and — this is a huge problem in America — fuels the foreign gangs. More than 85 percent of men incarcerated in America are on drug-related offenses. Dear Whoopi… has a nice ring to it. In 2014, Whoopi Goldberg introduced a new column for the Denver Post’s pot site, and in her debut post she talked about how her “vape pen” has helped her live “comfortably” with glaucoma. “The vape pen has changed my life,” The View moderator declared. “No, I’m not exaggerating. In fact, her name is Sippy. Yes, she’s a she. And yes, I named her Sippy because I take tiny, little sips — sassy sips, even — from her. And with each sip comes relief — from pressure, pain, stress, discomfort.” In March, Goldberg announced she was getting into the cannabis business by launching a medical marijuana line to help relieve menstrual cramps. As someone who suffers from multiple sclerosis, Montel Williams has been a vocal supporter of medical marijuana. “It’s a plant-based medicine,” he said on HuffPost Live in 2013, noting that the United States has sponsored research in other countries like Israel. “That medicine is relief to some people for multiple different disorders. There are chemicals inside that plant that we are just now starting to discern,” he explained, adding that he’s hoping a medication will be created based on some of the plant’s natural ingredients.
