Kendall Jenner Channels Paris Hilton for 21st Birthday Look, but Why?!

Kendall Jenner is a kopycat!

The celebrated supermodel marked her 21st birthday at a megabash at Delilah in L.A. on Wednesday, and was the toast of the evening in her custom Labourjoisie dress (one of two outfits she wore), which had enough Swarovski crystal to light up the city sky. This morning, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared her style inspiration for the look, and it was surprising: Paris Hilton.

“vintage Paris Hilton vibes,” the nipple flasher wrote, adding, “21 21.”

Way back in 2002 (the year of Bennifer, Winona Ryder‘s shoplifting trial, and Whitney Houston proclaiming that “Crack is whack”), the hotel heiress — then an “it” girl herself (times have changed!) — had one of the most elaborate celebrity birthday bashes ever, partying at five different bashes (held in London, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas) in different time zones around the globe. There were multiple changes of outfit, but the most memorable was the sliver of a silver number that looks just like what Kendall wore last night.

Kendall was just 7 when Paris turned 21, but she may have remembered the festivities for several reasons. For one, her big sister Kim Kardashian was in Paris’s entourage, working as a closet organizer. (That was her actual title.) While we’re sure there’s a good photo of the pair together celebrating Paris’s big 2-1 somewhere (Kim walked in Paris’s shadow at many club appearances in the early 2000s), you’ll have to settle for the one we could track down: Kendall’s mama, Kris Jenner, a few surgical procedures back, partying at Paris’s NYC shindig wearing a bedazzled “Like a Virgin” tee.

The big question though, for us, is: Why would cool Kendall want to dress like passée Paris? That’s a bit of a mystery to us. The leggy brunette is just exploding in the modeling world, with Forbes ranking her as No. 3 on its highest-paid models list. She and her gaggle of gorgeous friends are the women everyone is talking about right now. She just bought a $52,000 couch, for goodness sake. These days, Paris has been… well, we don’t know what Paris has been up to. We stopped thinking about it in about 2007.

Further, there’s been bad blood between Hilton and the Kardashians since the reality TV family’s meteoric rise. You see, Paris helped make Kim — and in turn, the Kardashians — famous, but the Kardashians have long eclipsed Paris’s fame. That’s made Paris a little bitter, leading to some notorious swipes at her former closet organizer through the years.

But Kendall doesn’t seem bothered by all that — or maybe she is just getting the last laugh for her sis by calling Paris “vintage”?
