Kendall Jenner Just Dropped a Lot of Money on This Weird Couch

Ah, remember your 21st birthday? Perhaps your friends came over to your apartment — most likely decked out with IKEA furniture — before you all headed out to the bar where you could legally order a drink for the first time. This was just the beginning of the many exciting firsts that lay ahead in adulthood, such as buying your own house and decorating it in your own style! But if you’re Kendall Jenner, who celebrates the milestone birthday on Nov. 3, she already owns her dream abode (and we’re guessing she’s probably already had a drink or two out at the clubs) — but she can still have fun with the interior design part.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared on her app this week that she’s just purchased a new piece of furniture to go in the $6.5 million mansion she bought over the summer from actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. After all, Jenner is one of the highest-paid models in the world, earning $10 million for her modeling gigs between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016, according to Forbes.

“Recently, I realized I’d been really good and came in way under budget on my furniture allowance,” she wrote. “I got super excited and bought another amazing couch. One day, I just had a vision about the entry room and knew exactly what it needed. As soon as I saw the couch, I fell in love. The ‘Boa’ by Edra couch is all woven and a really groovy navy with purple shimmer. It works perfectly in the space! I still have a long way to go, but am having so much fun along the way!”

Jenner’s beloved new couch retails for a pretty penny, according to the Internet. Switch Modern, for example, lists it at a price of between $52,048 and $62,164 for the large size. The small size is slightly cheaper, retailing between $38,855 and $46,122.

The Edra website’s description of the piece explains part of the reason it’s so pricey.

“It is a large woven nest. A soft embrace. An invitation to explore different positions lying between its pillows. You can sit on it, lie down or curl up,” the website reads (probably in a lovely, sophisticated accent). “With no frame, it consists of 120 meters of tube filled with flexible and breathable polyurethane with a touch of goose feather. It is covered with velvet, which gives it a peculiar brightness.

But wait, there’s more!

“Each sofa requires four tubes of thirty meters each, filled and covered by hand. Four people work simultaneously and in synchrony for more than a week. Two full days are dedicated to the final weaving.”

Wow.

The birthday girl’s lavish gift to herself was only the beginning of the festivities marking her special day. Jenner’s good friend and fellow model Gigi Hadid wished her a happy birthday with a special post Wednesday that’s sure to be followed by many others from family and friends.
